L’approccio alla pittura informale da parte di Sergio Scatizzi è divenuta identificativa di questo genere a livello nazionale ed internazionale.

Niente è rimasto costante o invariato, alcuni approcci si sono ripetuti nel tempo, altri sono rimasti  irripetibili, caso emblematico in tal senso: le “Terre”.

Nei piccoli formati apprezziamo l’elemento più “giocoso” di Scatizzi, meno legato a restrizioni compositive e di soggetto, in cui può abbandonandosi alla bellezza del colore.

I pochi che potevano assistere alle sessioni pittoriche possono sicuramente ricordare la cura, lenta e meticolosa, con cui Scatizzi intingeva la punta della spatola nei barattoli.

Una meticolosità ipnotica era il modo con cui sceglieva l’esatto quantitativo di colore che poi veniva mischiato ad altre volte usato in purezza sull’opera.

Gesti che diventavano una sorta di mantra tattile e silenzioso, un procedimento meditativo, quasi catartico.

Sergio Scatizzi’s approach to informal painting has become synonymous with this genre both nationally and internationally.

Nothing has remained constant or unchanged; some approaches have been repeated over time, while others have remained unrepeatable, a case in point being the ‘Terre’ (Lands).

In the small formats, we appreciate Scatizzi’s more “playful” side, less bound by compositional and subject restrictions, in which he can abandon himself to the beauty of colour.

The few who were able to attend the painting sessions will surely remember the slow and meticulous care with which Scatizzi dipped the tip of his spatula into the jars.

There was a hypnotic meticulousness in the way he chose the exact amount of colour, which was then mixed or used in its pure form on the work.

These gestures became a sort of tactile and silent mantra, a meditative, almost cathartic process.
