Gli anni sessanta sono stati per Scatizzi un periodo di grande sperimentazione.

Possiamo perciò osservare dipinti come quello che vi presentiamo oggi, all’insegna quindi dell’asciuttezza grafica ma senza rinunciare ad una componente di matericità.

Il soggetto viene lasciato all’interpretazione dello spettatore.

Quello che interessa veramente in un dipinto di questo tipo è il bilanciamento cromatico e come lo stesso pigmento si unisca al supporto.

Possiamo così capire come il fascino delle crettature naturali dell’olio, come la trama della tela con cui si fonde, siano elementi di indagazione per Scatizzi.

Il retaggio figurativo è però tangibile ed inequivocabile, quindi senza particolari sforzi decifriamo i due frutti in primo piano, siano esse arance o pomodori poco importa, mentre in secondo piano un libro o uno spartito su cui evidenti risultano i freghi riconducibili ad una scrittura scimmiottata.

The 1960s were a period of great experimentation for Scatizzi.

We can therefore observe paintings such as the one we are presenting today, under the banner of graphic dryness but without renouncing a component of materiality.

The subject is left to the viewer’s interpretation.

What is really of interest in a painting of this type is the colour balance and how the pigment itself merges with the support.

We can thus see how the allure of the oil’s natural cracks, and the texture of the canvas with which it blends, serve as points of exploration for Scatizzi.

The figurative heritage is, however, tangible and unequivocal, so without any particular effort we decipher the two fruits in the foreground, whether oranges or tomatoes, it matters little, while in the background is a book or a score on which the friezes referable to a mimicked script are evident.
